Hi all,
Can somebody tell me what are different courses from which HR professionals can improve their value - monetary as well as qualification.
What are different foreign university from where HR professionals can do some good short term courses after MBA or before MBA. How to get in and what are the pre-requisites.
Thanks and regards,

Hi Sirohi
I think thatt best would be to do MBA from a reputed institute...
As for any specialised course before or after MBA depends on your inclination towards a particular industry or a job...
But MBA with really good projects and efforts should be sufficient to start a good career.

Dear Ajmal,
Thanks for your note and suggestion.
Since, the beginning I always wanted to learn the management techniques, I have deep interest in HR mainly in employee relations, training, recruitment, organizing events, working on motivational theory and grievance handling.
I am into my final semester of PGDBM (MBA) HR, I was also having Office Management as a 3yrs regular course during my college days. I have 5yrs of experience in HR activities. Now I would to do a short-term course from any national or international institute or university to get the more knowledge about the HR functions
One more question: Do we have any provision of doing Doctorate Degree in HR. What is the highest qualification and courses one person should do to attain more knowledge. Whom to contact and where.
Looking forward to your communication.

Hi Sirohi
Great to learn that you will be out for corporate world within a couple of months...
Doing a short-term course may not be ideal as you may have a clash over final exams, plus the purpose of the short-term course generally is to update your knowledge base. I believe that with MBA your knowledge base is upto date...
Rather what you can do is, do some research work on some topic, write a white paper and get it published... [check this link #7107]
Then put this achievement in your CV. It will definitely have the impact on your overall profile...
As for the short-term course, you can keep it pending for couple of years when you think that you need to update yourself with the changing scenario...
I think most of the top universities offers doctorate in HR. Try Google and you should be able to find many institutes / universities for doctorate...
By the way, MS University, Baroda offers PhD in HR

Hi Artish
Try joining some BPO / ITES / IT company in International Sales. Build up rapport with the HR head, and apply personally when you know that certain HR post is vacant... It should work... If you are able to show that, you have a strong aptitude and inclination towards HR functions.
Other option is try some HR consultants. They might be able to get some interviews for you.

Getting in HR department at times takes lot of time, Waiting for the opening for HR department sitting at home is not advisable. If you are already working somewhere with a mind-set of getting in particular department, I believe that you would be able to develop friendship with HR guys from the company, that would help you in getting in the department. Certain BPOs as EXL services, [As told by a friend] posts the internal vacancies on the notice board and encourages the employees to apply for inter departmental transfers..
Check-out which BPO in your area is having the HR practice and join them. Here I am advising BPO because it would be easy for you to get a job there, but actually you can try for a job in any company which might be having similar HR policies...
