Hi, Can someone help me with the probation period policy for a BPO? Thank you.
From India, Delhi
Hi, probation can be from a minimum of 1 month to a maximum of 1 year, but in the case of BPO, to the best of my knowledge, it's 3 months. Being on probation, one cannot avail of paid or any other leave if in any sought emergency one has to take leave that is LWP. when on probation company can terminate the candidate, if found misconduct, has performance issues, or has fake documents. and candidates also can refuse to continue with proper reason and hand over the equipment, documents, etc.

can you share a sample policy for probation period

Yes, a probationer could be terminated without assigning reasons. However, to my knowledge and understanding, if any reasons of misconduct is attributed, the employer bound to adopt the due process.

Hi,
I have worked in making policies with many companies of different industries.
Giving you the glimpse on how you can make one:

PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
-All new employees are subject to a probationary period, typically lasting 3 months, during which their performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment are assessed.
-The probationary period allows both the employee and the company to evaluate the fit and determine whether to proceed with permanent employment.

While the period of probation may vary from a couple of months to 2 yrs. It's obvious the recruitments are made considering the skill sets the recruits possess as may be required. But still it's the duty of the ideal employer to put them in proper process of induction providing adequate opportunity & guidance for them to learn the pulse and nuances of the firm so that probationers complete the PP successfully. It's also important the reporting officials closely follow their performance levels and effectively implement mid course corrections/advice/guidance needed, including issue of written advises. Also assess the need to make them realise their inadequacies if any and assist to overcome them. Some times the seniors would, taking personal interest seen advising undergo short term courses with a view to improve their skills, in this BPO case, English / Hindi or other vernacular speaking courses. The HODs/HR would be required to introduce appropriately designed forms & formats at different stages which facilitate required assessment. Rarely there could be occasions warranting extension of PP in exceptional cases wherever the performance felt wanting for a limited period. Many instances have been noticed there is a tendency of not documenting the completion of PP and by issuing letters of completion/confirmation, in time.
