Dear Seniors,
I am working in a Company in Saudi Arabia as an Admin since November 2012. Before coming here I was told that I'll be having a yearly vacation and can leave the company at any time we need after the completion of 4 months probation period. I asked them for a vacation in October 2013 and they reject it saying that I cannot go on a vacation for 2 yrs. After a lot of request they still didn't accept then I asked them for a exit and they're saying that I even can't go on exit till the contract is finished. As per the contract it is 40 months, 4 months probation and 36 months contract. But in the contract it is mentioned that we can pay 90% of the visa fee if we want an exit during the contract. I want to know how much will be the visa fee and what can be done if they didn't give me exit. My visa is of a labor category.
The reason I want to leave the company is that I've been brought here for a Admin job but my company is making me do marketing job which I did for 10 months. I just asked them for a vacation.
Kindly suggest what is the best way to come out.

First of all I would like to say it is wrong on the company's part to ask the employee to work on something that has not been there in contract. Having said that, I would like to mention, if your contract is clearly saying that you can exit by paying 90% of Visa Cost and if you are ready to pay that amount, I guess there should not be the problem. You should discuss with the higher authorities of the company, explaining clearly the reasons of exit. Do mention that you were asked for admin during the appointment period and now you are asked for marketing job. I hope that they will understand and clear the matter.

I appreciate that you took concern in my problem. But my higher management itself is denying my exit and are asking for a very high cost in which we can buy 2 visas.

Immediately inform the Indian embassy. You will be released forthwith. The Indian Embassy in the middle eastern countries are very supportive to Indian nationals and they will take it up with the employers through the manpower ministry and you will be sent gracefully after complying with all the terms of the contract.
