Hi All,
Some ex-servicemen engaged as a consultant in the organisation, they have been paid Retainer ship fee and TDS is deducted on the retaineer ship fee as per law applicable. Kindly note that that the folowing points:
1 Whether consultant are covered under ESI Scheme if the retainer ship paid less than Rs. 10,000/-
2. The Govt of India Covers all the ex-service personnel under Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Sheme. The scheme is complulsory for all Ex-servicemen and there is no age restriction and the secheme is applicable for life time. The scheme is provides superior benefits as provided in ESI Scheme. In addition to the above ex-service men are drawing pension from the defence service.
Under the circumstances explained above, kindly forward your detailed opinion whether the aforesaid consultants comes under the ESI Act.

Dear Mr. N.Swamy
It is an additional burden if ex-service personnel are again covered under ESI As you told since they are covered under govt. contributed ESI health scheme, not necessary to cover them again.
