Dear Seniors,
I have joined as HR in a kids wear manufacturing company. Here employee strength 150. Here only cutting, ironing, altering, receiving and dispatch segment we have. My boss ask me to give a plan, how to grow business. He wants printing, stitching segments will be held in our company. What are the points I have to check when I'll prepare a proper plan for the company? If there is any sample copy plz suggest me.
Thanks

Dear Swarnali,
Expansion of business should be based on the strategic plan of the company. This strategic plan is devised based on the business strategy.
Your boss wants to add few more operational processes. However, additional of few more processes would require capital. What is financial capacity? Secondly, finance availability apart, the most important part is market for your product. For this your company needs to do the market research. Has your boss done that?
If the market research is not done then he needs to hire some market research agency or hire a consultant/adviser who is industry expert. If you are from HR then I doubt whether you are the right person to be given this task.
Your boss needs to do the business plan for the expansion. This business plan is different from the one that we submit to the bank to get a loan. Part of the business plan is manpower plan. This is where your role lies in. You need to identify the persons with right skills and source to get them.

Well, with appreciating Dinesh Divekar's suggetion, would like to add few more points here.
One thing could not able to make out, that how HR makes business plan of a company...
The growth factor lies in the ideas of the owner, not in employee, of course, they can suggest cannot make a business plan.
anyways, few areas of business expansions you can suggest him, are contacting schools, hospitals, CCDs, other restaurants for stitching of uniforms, aprons.
you could explore more such ideas and share it with your boss. Give a try ..
