Hi, In our company we have only 12 days of sick leave . No casual leaves. Employees are allowed to take Casual Paid leaves only after working for 1 year which is 18 days in a year.
Our management noticed people taking sick leave for casual reasons on Monday and Friday. Also, when a public holiday comes on Monday or Friday, they apply for sick leave on the previous day / after the public holiday for a long weekend.
So management decided to ask for medical records even though the sick leave is one day,
1. Is it legal to ask for a medical certificate for one day
2. How to avoid people using sick leave for casual leaves during weekends or public holidays
