Hi, Is EPFO Nominee Updation is Employer's responsibility ? Or Employee has to do?
My company management said, Do Nominee updation for all the employees. coz unskilled people don't know how to do it. Shall i initiate the update process is it right?

Or can I educate them to do it by themself?

Can you teach them to do it?
How many of them are educated and capable of using computer and smart phones?

In many of our clients (where we do compliance audit), IR teams have conducted many training workshops for teaching workers (including contract workers) how to use the PF ESIC websites effectively, and to know their rights.

But they still have to assign one person in IR / HR to do it for those who come to them saying its not working.

Your director's idea is good. But then you need to keep detailed records to defend your action in case it is challenged later.

I suggest you do a hybrid. Teach the workers and do it for those who still come and say do it for me.

Taking initiative to get the form filled is well advised, as the EPFO would follow up with you for compliance. They won't pursue with the members directly but will go after you, and most importantly looking to the problems it would cause in the case of no-nomination in the unfortunate event of demise of any member, it would be much better to make that extra effort.
