Preface
India is a diverse country and the diversity can also be seen in the roads when it comes to the vehicular movements. Although we have had rapid development and expansion of the road network but still we are yet to have dedicated corridors for specific vehicle types. When you add to it the freely wandering livestock, such as cattle, horses, and at times even elephants in some parts, it is absolute mayhem and chaos that one encounters in Indian roads. The scenario gets even more dangerous when daily hundreds of passenger cars and freight vehicles are added into the roads. This has led India’s name to notoriously emerge in the global list for having substantial number of deaths in road accidents.
In India the concept of road safety as a term is alien in the absence of stricter legislation and punishment. Also the heterogeneity in traffic increases the conflicts between their compatibility with the traffic flow and thus reduces safety. The contributing factor to the non-observance of road safety rules can be largely attributed to the lack of awareness amongst the masses. This in turn leads to unsafe road user behaviour and habits. It thus becomes impediment for one corporate to take up the task of road safety management without the Government getting involved. However, it has to be a closer tie up and partnership between the stakeholders such as the State, corporate and a technically equipped organisation to address the issue. The technically equipped organisation should be one that can operate on or bench mark with international road safety norms and can establish pan-India initiatives and has proven track records in this field.
Hubert Ebner (India) Pvt Ltd (HE) is an Indo Austrian venture, having proved their expertise in road safety for more than three decades in Austria and have been on a mission to make Indian roads safer for more than one and a half decades. We, at HE to begin with, use a scan-&-teach interactive method of educating: the methodology is Austrian but the content has been customised to Indian needs and reflects the road and traffic conditions prevalent in India.
We are actively involved not only in rendering services in terms of conducting Defensive Driving Training but have also conceptualised some Special Training Modules & Programmes to address the Road Safety Issues & other related concerns. We have segregated our Training Modules & Coaching & Assessments for a better understanding of our services for our customers and can also improvise and customise according to specific needs. We have now evolved into a Road Safety Management consulting company and cherish to embed ‘the safe road culture’ into the lifeblood of India.
