Dear all,

We are planning to conduct safety training for our dumper drivers, bulker drivers, forklift drivers, acid tanker drivers, and hydr & JCB drivers. Can anyone help by providing some training materials or clippings? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Dear Friends,

Ms. Hansa requested help in obtaining training materials for heavy equipment operators, although she used the term "driver." Trucks have drivers. Those who handle other heavy equipment that I prefer to call operators. This equipment is not typically driven on public roads but operated in industries. There are workers, plants, and other equipment between which they have to move. Often, they are awkwardly and heavily loaded. Operators of this equipment require training and re-training.

It's not the designation but the materials - except for Mr. Sundaram's offer, I could not find an answer to Ms. Hansa's request. Kindly help if you can by providing equipment operators' training materials. I can post the appropriate materials but need some time to retrieve them from my collection. I can assure you that in a few days, I will be able to post them if Ms. Hansa can be patient with me.

Regards,
Kesava Pillai.

Dear Mr. Kesava,

I have posted related to forklifts, which was one of the questions on Hansa. I only have these videos as we are using only forklifts at our site. The trucks are handled by a third-party transporter, and they are ensuring their training. Since this material handling is entirely managed by a separate department, I'm not interfering with that, so I don't have other materials.

When you post your materials, it would be useful for me too as I can also learn and implement when required. I'm awaiting your materials.

Regards.

Dear All,

Attaching two files:

1. Safety in JCB - Operators Training Material
2. Safety Alert related to JCB Battery Burst - For comments. Will the recommendations prevent this type of incident from reoccurring? If not, what recommendations should we provide?

Hope this will also help Ms. Hansa. Looking forward to the training material from Kesav Sir.

@ KVSundaram, thanks for uploading the file. However, I am unable to download it as the website is blocked in our office. I will download it when I have the opportunity outside the office.

Dear Hansa,

Please see the attached heavy equipment operators training PowerPoint. I hope it helps you. I have a heavy equipment video, but it's too big to upload here. My hard disk has some problems. When I get it back, I will post the equipment PowerPoint. I will try to post more PowerPoints ASAP.

Thanks & Be safe,

Dear Hansa,

I regret the delay. However, I was able to locate a training course material from a very old collection, possibly from the nineteen sixties. I have been trying to remember the source without success.

Feel free to modify it to suit your training needs. I am confident that you will find inspiration to develop your own training courses by following this style. There are plenty of suitable videos available for you to use.

Please let me know if this meets your requirements.

Dear Friends,

It took a part of my otherwise busy schedule and quite some effort to type the course material and paste the sixteen and odd selected pictures to post the training material as it is.

This material is for serious and professional training purposes. The intending trainer has to go through it carefully, digest it properly, and make an effort to prepare themselves for presenting it effectively.

I realize that it is not just a ready-made PowerPoint presentation as most people desire. I really hate spoon-feeding. Unless the trainer has the material within them and uses their own presentation, most training sessions become just a ritual and ineffective.

Thousands and thousands of PowerPoint presentations are readily available for us to use. However, every PPT is prepared by an individual to suit their style and capability. With a PPT prepared by an individual, they will not just be reading out slides one by one but their lecture will reflect their knowledge, experience, interpretation, ideas, dreams, challenges, questions, and so on. The same PPT, when used by another person, will lack that spirit.

My advice to aspiring youngsters is to take a little pain, collect materials, see and hear everything related to the topic, and prepare course materials of their own. Let your course materials reflect your personality. You will be able to do justice to your profession and master the art of successful presentation in time.

I would like to know whether the course material was found useful to anyone or if it was just a waste of my time, please.

Kesava Pillai

Dear Sir,

I have gone through the entire module and found it very effective. The tips which you shared on how to execute the training were excellent. While reading, it reminded me of a "train the trainer" program. Those who take this seriously will benefit greatly.

A few words were new to me in the module, which I further understood by referring to the internet. The visual questions used for the quiz were very effective.

Thanks and I look forward to receiving the same guidance in the future too.

Dear Kesava Sir,

First of all, sorry for the late reply due to some reasons. I was out of discussions. The input provided by you is really very good, and as rightly said by Dipil, it is like training the trainer. I am preparing myself to give training to forklift operators.

Thank you for your valuable time, input, and suggestions. We always need guidance from such an experienced person.

Based on your input, here is the corrected version:

Pending your needs, I have piles and piles of materials and driver training materials, from forklifts to trucks to cars, to driver education and accident avoidance. Just email your needs.

Gents,

Attached is a safety alert involving:

1. Incompetence of the operator
2. Hazardous passion for mobile phones at work
3. Poor perception of risk
4. Lack of a system to control jobs (e.g., PTW, Lockout/Tagout, etc.)

The contributory causes resulted in a FATALITY.

Hope this could be useful by applying suitable corrective measures.

Dear Mr. Kesava,

I fully agree with your point. The PPTs are created according to the situation and comfortability. It's only the trainer's capability that makes the point reach out to the people. However, I can say that the materials we receive here provide additional information, even the basics that we forget, which can be refreshed. Nevertheless, we cannot replicate the same presentation as we are unaware of the angles from which these presentations are made.
