Hi That is good idea to start the Consultancy. Initially plan what type of consultancy that you are planning to start? Is is recruitment consultant or payroll & statutory? Training?

If at all you are planning to start payroll & compliance you should be well verse in all statutory, registration formalities & periodical returns etc.
Initially you shall start as freelancer as working & doing the consultancy as part time & then later if you get good & sufficient clients then you can plan for quitting the job

What Jeevarathnam has said is one way of looking at the scenario. One can also go all out to get clients as well. However preparing your roadmap, internal processes, material required for training etc if you are looking to go forward. again on the recruitment front though clients are easy to get you need to assess whether you have the strength to 'fulfill' the requirement of the client with exclusive resumes. IMHO it may take 6 to 9 months before you can stabilize operations if you are a 2 or 3 member organization.
