Dear HR Professionals,
We are an IT MNC. We do not have any stringent policy over Dress Code, but we soon want to initiate one to keep Company Decorum.
Sending out an email just would not work, since many employees may not take it seriously. We need some valid, strong idea/policy which would help maitain the Dress Code in our Company.
Request you to please share your policies that you follow at your firm for Employee Dress Code.
Best Regards,

Hi Surekha,
Draft a dress code policy and share it across the organisation. Just mention few DO and DONTs as well while drafting the policy. Please note drafting a policy is easy but adhrence is not. Hence, it should be driven from top and maintain a report for every process or dept for meeting the compliance on it.
Also, you can conduct a random audit or include a find of Rs. 50 per instance for better implementation. These are just suggestions from my end.

Hello Surekha,
I suggest that you draft a Policy Booklet that enlists all the Company Policies alongwith the newly devised Dress Code. This shall serve two purposes.
1) The inclusion of the dress code in the Company Policy Booklet shall give an impression that the Management is serious about the New Dress Code.
2) The policy booklet also gives the employees a feeling of a disciplined work environment and aids non-occurrence of Policy Breach.
I would strongly recommend you devise a Scoring System whereby Maintenance of Decorum-Including Dress Code can be rated by Seniors. This Score shall later be used by the HR Team during appraisal. This can be done keeping in mind your Employee Strength and Management Flexibility.
This has worked for me and more than a couple of my peers in other organizations. Hope this works for you too!
