Hi all,
I'm a junior in HR field. I need guidance from all of you.
Currently I am confusing on the differences of temporary employees and part timers.
I am working in an F & B company. There are 2 categories of employees which includes Full Time and Part Time.
Our part time employees do not enjoy the benefits and they are only work in our company less than 3 months (until they feel want to leave our company). Their daily working hours are same as our permanent employees. But, they can resign anytime with 24 hours notice, as they like.
Question: This type of employee is actually considered as part time or temporary?
Thank you.

Hi,
Please refer to the following explanations:
a) Part time jobs: Can be handled for a part of the normal working hours. But people working every day the regular hours for two to three months are not part time. Any body who comes and works daily for 2- 3 or four hours is a part time employee.
Categories could be the stores assistant, billing clerk, part time lecturer. Part time jobs may be for any number of days in a year. Basically these are the types of jobs that do not require to be manned for full 8 or 9 working hours of the day.
b) Temporary job: Is for a job which is purely of temporary in nature and concludes after the job is over. It may also be a trial job to test before taking employee on a permanent basis. But this will be for the full working hours. Temporary can also be seasonal like workers in tea estate, sugar factory, fryit pulp industry.
Your employees working for 2- 3 months are not part time but temporary.
Hope it is clear.
kind regards
