Dear Respected Seniors,
Am a training professional, I conduct soft skills/behavioural training, am keen to enhance my qualifications and am confused whether to do a course from ISTD or a course in instructional design. What I want to understand is which of these will be more focused in leveraging training skills i.e. more focused on the operational aspect- like TNA, course/content development and design, delivery techniques and adult learning principles, etc. I need to enroll if possible this year and really looking forward to gain this qualification. Please guide me, your brisk response will be really helpful.

Though all the things you have mentioned in your mail are to be learnt, but see what is your requirement.
a) instruction designs helps you planing the entire course from end to end. i. e from statement of the learning objectives to setting of evaluation process. However majority of the orgainzation tend to keep it themselves.
b) Content development would be useful if you are developing a module from scratch. But now a days almost every thing being available on internet, it is more of logical sequencing of sub modules and related study material.
c) Delivery techniques and adult principles are to be learnt more from the learning dyanmaics point of view so that the course presentation can be ade more effective.
Based on your requirement you may decide which one to enroll. Ideally you may learn all to become a full fledged trainer than being a stand up trainer delievring ready made modules.

ISTD course helps for sure incase you want to learn from basics. However, if you have already done your MBA/ MMS then it is less fruitful. I have myself done it. The contact classes in Mumbai are held in NMIMS
