Dear All,

I have a question regarding a joining offer in my hand, I recently got selected by an MNC and decided to join the company. After receiving my offer letter on email, I accepted the offer ( on email).

I am supposed to join the company after completion of my notice period and to submit the signed copy of the offer letter on the date of joining.

In the meantime I appeared for another interview and have got an offer from them too. My dilemma is that I want to join this second company.

1. They are offering me a 20% hike, whereas the 1st company has offered me a 5% hike.

2. The second co's office is nearer my home.

My question to the august panel is :

1. Do I have any obligation towards the 1st co to join them since I have confirmed them on e mail?

2. I intend to decline the 1st offer on mail and inform the HR accordingly, but can they take any action / or am I liable for any action though I have not signed any offer as of yet.

I have given an email confirmation of offer acceptance.

3. Please guide me as I want to take the best decision, I wish to take up the second offer in hand.

Thanks.

No you do not have the obligation to join them, but inform them so that they can give the offer to other candidate who has been shortlisted

No you are not liable for any action unless written specifically in the offer letter. Please inform the HR well in advance so that they go ahead and recruit someone else for your post.
3. Please guide me as I want to take the best decision, I wish to take up the second offer in hand.
Since you wish to take up the second offer in hand, we wish you all the best.

Go ahead as per your choice. No action can be taken by any one based on offer letter but may blacklist you for future consideration, if any. Pon

Hi, You can send mail to HR of first company that you are not joining the company due to personal circumstances. And you are not liable for any action. You are free to take your own decision. Deepali
