Hello folks,
I'm recently moved to training department and I have been asked to prepare the framework and module to develop personality of our managers and supervisors. Targeted audience works for hotels and restaurants.
As per my understanding, personality development is not a one day course rather it can be elaborated over few sessions covering topics like public speaking, communication skills, grooming, etc.
Would appreciate if you can give your ideas as to what and how this program can be developed.
Thanking you in advance.
Cheers

Dear Richa,

For the growth of the organisation training of the employees is important. In this context, personality development plays major role. However, sign of well-developed personality does not mean good communication skills alone. Yes, communication plays major role in one's personality but it is just one part of it. Personality is defined as the complex of all the attributes--behavioural, temperamental, emotional and mental - that characterize a unique individual. How a manager handles a situation professionally shows whether manager's personality is developed or not. Sometimes managers face critical situations. How they handle these situations speaks of their personality.

In the business context, mere personality development of the employees is not sufficient. Personality development should translate into business development also. Otherwise, what is the use of that personality that does not develop business?

For the human development, guidance and feedback plays major role. After training of the employees, who will give them feedback at the time of implementation of learning? Without feedback, how they will come to know their mistakes or overcome their mistakes? Therefore, more than training, you need someone to mentor your managers where training is part of the mentoring.

Going further, you need to create a culture of self-learning also. Managers cannot depend forever on their company to train them. Mentoring encourages self-learning.

I provide training and mentoring services. For further clarification, feel free to contact me.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
