Hard workers...Don't miss this... Read It Completely.....An unwise
investment!!!
A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.
SON: "Daddy, may I ask you a question?"
DAD: "Yeah sure, what is it?" replied the man.
SON: "Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"
DAD: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?" the man said angrily.
SON: "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?"
DAD: "If you must know, I make Rs.100 an hour."
"Oh," the little boy replied, with his head down. Looking up, he said, "Daddy, may I please borrow Rs.50?"
The father was furious, "If the only reason you asked that
is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior."
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that
Rs.50 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.
"Are you asleep, son?" He asked.
"No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.
"I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier," said the man.
"It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the Rs.50 you asked for."
The little boy sat straight up, smiling. "Oh, thank you daddy!" He yelled.
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get
angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.
"Why do you want more! money if you already have some?" the father grumbled.
"Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied.
"Daddy, I have Rs.100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with
you."

But even better, share Rs.100 worth of time with someone you love. It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with
those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family & friends we leave
behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of
it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family.
An unwise investment indeed!

hi shaki,
why do u think that v r helpless. v should put some knid of restriction on us regarding the extent of our working hrs. obviously, everyone wants to achieve the highest zenith in his/her life but that should not be done by keeping the family at stake. after all, for whom r u earning money.

Good Story
I think it's not possible for everybody .Most of the people think they want to spend most of the time with there family members .But due to some circumstances they are not able to spend there time with there family members.
They might be so many reasons.

nice story - good point but I think it is all about work life balance is it not?
I think part of the HR's role in the organization is to ensure that they have happy productive employees - but it is all a TOP - Down approach managment needs to appreciate and understand the importance of having their employees balance both Work and Their Personal Life.
Some times as ee's we know when it is really busy so we try and to manage those periods and know that there will be times that we can relax more.

hi sunayna,
well, wat i meant was that there should be work life balance. this means work should also be considered important.
as u said u hav missed many movies, many instances of having fun wid ur family. upto an extent these r necessary, since ur college studies r also important. happens with me also. but it wont be right, that during our exams time v think of going out n have fun with our family since studies r also very imporant. but still, u must agree that being a student, v still get plenty of time to spend with our family.
but once people start working, they dont hav any time for their family. for them exams time continue forever n family takes a back seat. that is not right.

well ...
Leaving aside the work pressures for a moment ...
I would like to ask one basic question ....
"Whom are you earning for ??"
"What do you plan to do with the Money you earn ??"
If the answer is FAMILY ...
"Do you think it is advisable to earn for their 'future' when you are already not giving them the 'desired present' "
... You are already practically absent from their lives today ....
Is it feasible to earn a little less today and tomorrow and give more time to the family today and tomorrow ....
rather than think that you will earn more today adn then give them more time tomorrow ????
Once you have answered the Questions on this line of Thought ... subsequent answering of other questions will be easier ...
decision making will be easier ....
Staying back in ofice or spending 12 to 16 hours in office 'at times' due to work pressure is fine ...
But if this 'at times' starts happening 80% of the times ...
You better start asking yourself some serious priority Questions as indicated above ... and create a subsequent action plan ... Do a SWOT analysis and figure out how long do you plan to have to continue such kind of an existence !!
