Dear Dhananjoy.

"Principa"l Word it self covers entire functions, process, activities related to school, administration, education, employee management, development of school as well as development of over all areas of students personality by which the school may produce a quality product.

As you have not mentioned about your prior experience, and number of employees total having in school, number of students, atmosphere of school, which type of support and back up is given by top management and what are the expectations of top management from you in terms of increasing number of students, time frame and power to work on quality education .

If you have been on same post earlier then it is good for you but if this is new trade for you then try to contact and connect some same profile persons known to you by any mean and start pointing your target for proper development of school by analysis of present system and atmosphere.

try to connect with experience staff members and collect important information, get feed back of faculties, teachers and related staff, have a look of parents feed back given for school etc.

These things will link you slowly but strongly to system, and as a principal you have big responsibility of quality education, team building ,co ordination with staff, faith of parents and so on.

Soon you will manage the things..

Best Wishes.

When you were interviewed for this job, what questions were you asked about your skills and ability to do this job, and run a school??

Why are you asking us how to run a school, when you presumably told the interview panel you could do this work??

I am really struggling to understand how you obtained this job if you do not know what it is you are supposed to be doing.

If I am understanding this correctly, you have been appointed as Principal of a school, and you have almost no clue as to what you are supposed to do. I am also sumising that you have never run a school before, or even been an assistant principal in a school. Is that a fair summary of the situation?

There are a few jobs I can think of that I would love to do, but do not have the qualifications, skills or experience to do. Being a member is CiteHR has given me a wonderful insight into recruitment practices in India. I really think I should move over there as soon as possible, and then I can get my dream job easily.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but this just completely baffles me.

The unfortunate problem in India is, not all those who are capable of running a school opting to become a Principal, and not all those who are sitting as Principal, are capable of running a school, in fact, I believe this to be true for not only principal, but for Presidents prime ministers, CEOs, VPs etc., but the successful Principal or those who sit in such positions is that, they are willing to learn, that quality is the most important, so, it is good that this person asked and he is getting help, instead of thinking that he knows and mess up the whole thing.

Or if you have started your own school without any earlier experience thinking it as a profitable business then you must indicate. In that case you should hire professionals to run the school.

one primary school student to another : "My Teacher asked me such a silly Question in class , she did not even know that... ! ' was a joke 2 or 3 decades ago.
It is today the truth in most educational institutes in India.
I wish you come in here as a Student , you can have a whale of a time.
