Dear Ramya,

its always nice to have good titles for awards because they motivate the employees in longer run.

i assume that this are yearly awards.

my suggestion for new names are given in the bracket at the end of each award:

1.Best Worker - for entry Level category like office boy & in production mechanics. ( Best support)

2. Best Management - For head of Marketing , who right hand for management too in all activities. (Best leader to work with)

3. Best Technical Leadership - head of R & D , next level to management who do mostly prg & new projects. (Best technocart)

4. Most Efficient Employee - middle level mgt, who does his work without any expectation from mgt. (Torchbearer Award)

5. Best Loyality - Who worked lot for co. benefit & growth as a friend. ( Employee of the year)

6. Most Progressive Employee - Newly joined employee ( The future of Company)

7. Best New Comer - Newly joined employee (The name you suggested seems good)

8. Best Embedded Software Developer - best in Embedded prg.

9. Best Web Developer - in respective field

10. High Value Sales - huge order in single ( from one co.)

11. Best Technical Innovator ( Eureka Award)

12. Best Sales Men - Highest sales in qty & Customers

13. Best Software Support (Support category)

14. Best System Support (Support category)

I am sure these names will help you to get more ideas .

Hey Ramya,
You can move with"Rookie of the Year/Month Award: for a new comer , whose performanmce for the first year/month was outstanding.
Also you can opt for"YCCAwars(Your Contribution Counts Award) for those who are contributing towards the Revenue generation thru a support division.
For an Employee who scores mroe than the target, you can give "Extra Miler" award
Hope this information will help u to design some good titles

Hi Ramya
Without any intention of sounding overly critical, a few comments on the award system that you have designed:
* For a company with an employee size of 40-50; 14 awards seem to be a bit too many (even if its one per month)
* You run the risk of making it a sort of an entitlement for the employees; because of the high number of awards employees will expect to get it sooner or later
* You may want reword them to something else rather than 'best', as its one too many 'bests'here in the list
This is only 'my' feedback and opinion, but end of the day, you know your organisation better and you are the best judge.

Hi Ramya,
Prachi rightly mentioned that having so many awards for the the staff of 40-50 people may lose its relevance..too many cooks spoil the broth!.. :)
Suggest that you limit the awards to three or four ones based on a priority for which everyone can be eligible for..

Hi Prachi & Rajat,
I agree to your point. Thank you very much. The same was suggested & argued by me. But it is Private company, Management ( one man army) wants to rewards all the staff who has stayed & helped from the begining. Since this is the first company gives the Award. Therefore he wants to recoginse all. Form next year onwards, i think we can select 2-3 person.
Another lacking point is as it is small co, for each dept. hardly one person will be working in such a case, we have to recognise all.
Sometimes we have no otherway, we have to fall in line though we know the cause & effects of it.
Thank u to all.

Hi Ramya
Take your point.
However you may want to recommend to your manager to recognise every individual's contributiion by celebrating the organisations successes for 2006 through ca company sponsored lunch/ dinner. At this event your manager could acknowledge individuals who have been key partners in the successes.
This would be more personal and effective than a 'mass reward' system

Hello everyone,
I am Sobia and working in HR department of an NGO. I would like to know while determining the awards like employee of the month etc., how do you differentiate and evaluate all the employees on a same level or parameters who are from different departments? e.g. how can an hr person be compared with someone in Conservation, IT, Accounts or other departments?
And secondly i would also like to know wht can be the best way to nominate and select the employee of the month etc by not being biased because this seems evry subjective and of course employees from the same department would prefer to nominate and vote for their peers in the same in stead of others due to their personal views/likes and dislikes.
