As an MBA student, you have to work hard to prepare your project report on your own, by innovative ideas, concepts, creations and so on. You should not make a base on this type of help from seniors, as it will not make your expertise in your field. As an MBA student, you have to explore the possibilities to work out for the situational aspects to get the required information on the content, material, and try to prepare yourself for the required project report. It will give you self satisfaction, confidence and ability to prosecute further projects with zeal and industry.

When you say meaningful to society, you could do things on empowerment, affirmative action, self help groups, SGAs, Training Govt to be proactive at the village level, creating a responsive adminsitration, quality imrovement, employment generation, imrpoving employability of the graduate populace, the llist is endless. Actually, it depends on which angle of HR fascinates you. Mention it and we can braistorm here :)
