In my situation, I have real 3 years of experience in different domain(software documentation) and now I have done course in cybersecurity and showing my 3 years of real experience that I worked in cybersecurity and looking for job in cybersecurity as experienced. And, all my bank statements and salary slips I will show real one. So, will that be a problem in BGV because in resume and payslips I will change the designation to cybersecurity. Will that be considered as fake candidate?

Hi,

What will you do if the hired employer will go for a back ground verification on your rolls and responsibilities with the past company. In Resume and payslip you may edit the designation but what your past employer will comment on your roll and responsibility will not be in your control.

I sincerely suggest you to start your career from scratch as a Fresher for cyber security.

There is no rule that a candidate has to work in the same domain until they retire and we have rights to change domain and upgrade. But the problem here especially in India is, they need only experienced candidates but we candidates doesn’t want to start again as a fresher taking 3 or 3.5 LPA. Why 99.99% Indian companies doesn’t consider previously worked corporate experience and give atleast little hike or Atleast they can give current salary as we won’t be having experience? Why should we start again as a fresher? Again if we start as a fresher when will we settle down? Life is short right? Employers only see their benefits, from business point of view and I agree with employers but what about candidates situation and dreams? Do you know how many candidates are liking the job they are doing? I am still 3 years experienced person and still I am in learning phase. Until 3-5 years it’s learning phase. Once we cross 5 years experience, then the salaries will be huge and then I agree that employers can’t take risk. But for up to 4-5 years experienced people employers should allow career switch to reshape their career.

The question here is not a career switch but to create a fake experience in Cyber Security for a period of three years whereas in fact there is no such experience. Do you think you will be able to satisfy the employer of having 3 years of practical experience in Cyber Security domain? Having knowledge of the subject is one thing but to be having real experience in the field is totally different. So, instead of stating your experience to be in the Cyber Field, you may mention it to be an additional area you worked and you should also be able to come out with the real events in your organisation, when required. Agreed that career switch is your choice or right, but attempting in an entirely dishonest manner may not bid well. If the experience is found to be fake, then it will be disasterous.

Yes, I agree and I tried that in the initial months of job hunt but no success. I showed my real experience and showed I have good skills in cybersecurity and planning to move to cybersecurity but they still ask me only experience related questions and most times interviewer will not schedule the interview at all since I don’t have experience in it. They are not ready to take me as a fresher also because it has been 4 years since I passed out.

So, Now tell me what should I do? Should I give up? Give me a practical possible solution if possible:)

Hi,

Having good knowledge in cyber security is different from having good practical working experience in cyber security. If you show 3 years false experience in cyber security your employer will expect performance matching your 3 years of experience. It is your call. But be cautious.
