The question of whether IT/ITES based units are 'Industry" or not still being debated in India. There is no conclusion arrived at. There is widespread opinion in favour of recognizing these units as 'Industry' growing. Therefore till such time proper amendments are issued the IT/ITES units are to be registered & governed under the Shops & Commercial Estts. act of the respective states only.
