Hello!! Everyone, I need your suggestions. I had joined this company 2 months back as Asst. Mgr - HR & Recruitment. Now I want to resign this company because the task(Placements) that was assigned to me is not feasible, i.e, i am unable to do that because the company does not wants to spend even a single penny on job portals, but wants me to run the placements department and earn revenues.
Now I am thinking of resigning because i can't see any prospects here. And I don't want the blame on me. Please suggest me something as to what shall I do.
I would be grateful.
Thanks & Regards

Dear Pooja,
If your company is not ready to hire database then suggest them to go for consultancy services. That's a better option.
Don't quit till you have something in your hand. Meanwhile look for opportunity outside.

Pooja I would suggest you to remain in business and wait for the right time. What I think feasible in your case is, you can seek the present employees for referencces or look for a cheaper way to advertise your requirements.

Dear Pooja
I suggest you to remain in the job . Take it as a challenge and find the alternate way to do the work.
As you are asstt mgr HR position it becomes a question to your work expereince if you do not know how to source candidates.
Paid Job Portal is not the solution. Getting quality and genuine candidate is important. This is where the expertise and experience of recruiter come.Else there is no different in HR and a telecaller.

First thing you should ask why consultancies will work free for you. How you'll get resumes when your organization do not want to go for paid service.

The situation you are now in I am sure you do not have your candidate data base too. By your database I mean candidates whom you have communicated personally and have their details in excel sheet.

There are number of new job portal sites launching every month in India.
Register your self in those job portal sites where free resume access is available. Put job posting there . Prepare a database of candidates and segregate them with industry , experience and location wise.
Use your network and try to exchange the database with other HR recruiters.
Some candidates you can find even in citehr. linkedin , facebook , orkut, yahoogroup, free online advertisement sites are available to post free ads there.
Check with those people who wants corporates to put their ads in their websites. Exchange web links with them and put free job ads.

Imagine yourself as business owner where you need to have maximum productivity with minimum resource. You'll understand why paid job portal is not the ultimate solution in recruitment.
Earning revenue is not easy when you do not have any thing to offer to the recruiters and consultancies . Come up with a business model where show your management without investing how they can earn. Even this is very much possible.

If both of us have not been in same consultancy business I would have given you the idea how to increase revenue. But still I suggest you be in the same job unless you get a better opportunity and utilize the situation to learn and develop yourself rather then getting frustrated.

Dear Puja,
Please do not quit any job immediatly after joinig, atleast wait for more than 6 months or 1 year if you can.
Job hopping so early will definately give negative reflect in your resume.
May be your employer are testing your capability, dedication, your extreme effort, level of handling pressure.
Its all mind set, how many jobs you will quit ? if next employer will be worst then this then what?
Be calm, try to find solutions, take up this as opportunity to leran and part of experience.
Try to find out a job with more resposinble job profile and ofcourse a good company then resign to present job by serving the noctice period.
Once you have the experience, you will get good oppurnities in future.
ALL IS WELL

Personally, I have been in the recruitment domain with consultancies, own business and internal HR for corporate orgs as well.

If you could inform your requirement or the fills that you need to complete and the nature of candidates and the nature of the business, then I can accurately point to free sources for getting live candidates.

As far as my own experience goes, anybody with a minimal browsing skill can source candidates from a paid job portal like naukri or monster.

The entire challenge of recruiting lies in getting leads out of thin air. There are more possible ways than infinite to do this.

First off stop thinking about the inability of the organization to get you resources. They have got the best resource they can and you have 100% access to it. And that resource is "YOU".

It will be easier to hop off to another place where the facilities to work are better.. But unfortunately, "Better" is a relative term.

Recognize your core potential like calling, browsing or data analysis. Then choose the possible areas that you can put these skills in action.

If you can inform the job description then I can help you with the possible resources.

Three days each resource would be all it takes to find the best ones that work for you. And believe me there are many recruiters who have the Job Portal Access and yet are unable to make fills. They end up selling those logins at half rates.

So data in one place or many sources does not matter to a person who has the skill and patience to search.

All the best.
