Hello,
I have just complete my notice period with xxxx. During my 3 month notice period i had to travel onsite for 2 weeks on business visa, for this I have not signed any bond with company. On last day HR is telling me, that there is some unsigned Bond for onsite travel, due to which i have to complete 4 months after coming back from onsite otherwise have to pay 2 lakhs. And this was told to me only on last working day, not even during giving me clerances, tickets for onsite travel.
In past I have seen/signed several bonds which were physical papers i had to sign, get notary stamp and seal and then submit to HR. But there is no such bond in this case.
Now my question is can xxxx enforce this unsigned bond?
How can I fight this legally?
Thanks for your valuable advise.
Regards,

Dear friend,
I recommend making your post anonymous immediately.
With whom did you speak in HR? Did you escalate the matter? What are their views?
Do you have any HR policy that says that if an employee is sent abroad on business visa, then he/she needs to pay Rs 2 Lakh in case of exit? Please check HR portal of your company.
Former HR Head is current CEO of your company. He is expected to foster employee friendly environment. Nevertheless, let us wait for the outcome of your escalation.
Thanks,

What was the business visit for ?
Training or normal business trip??
If bond is unsigned legally they cannot force you to pay.
You were on notice period and still company sent you abroad??
You have grounds to fight it out but remember xxxx has deep pockets and can get best legal help to take you to court.
Seek a middle path and try to convince management by talking about unsigned bond, last minute intimation of bond amount etc and also the company knew you were leaving as you were on notice period.
Tactfully show their legal weakness and wangle yourself out in friendly manner to extent possible.

Few answers:
1) It was a "business trip" for "meetings". No training.
2) Old policy was to have a written signed (and notarised) bond for all visa and travel requests. Not sure when it was changed, but I did not sign any such bond for this situation.
3) I did speak with HR. Tried to escalate. No progress yet.
PS: How does one change the original post (or anything other setting) for anonymous.
Thanks.

I do not think the company can enforce an unsigned bond. Try and escalate the matter to higher ups beyond HR if necessary.
