The major functions are related to HR department is Recruitment, Performance Appraisal, training and Career develepmemt, Employee retention, HR policy and Strategy has to frame for your companies requirment.
other related things are Compensation mgt, Statutory compliances, liason with contractors, govt officials and business related people.
