Dear Arpan,
Attrition refers employees those who voluntarily left the organization over a time period.
There are many ways to calculate Attrition. Below mentioned are few for your reference:
Voluntary leavers / Closing HC for the period
Voluntary leavers / Average of Opening & Closing HC for the period
((Voluntary Leavers x 100) / (HC during the period)) / 100
wherein HC during the period is Opening HC + Hires/Acquisition during the period.

Certainly! The basic formula to calculate the attrition rate is as follows:

Attrition Rate = (Number of employees who left the company during a given period ÷ Average number of employees during the same period) x 100

To break it down further:

- Determine the number of employees who left the company during a given period (e.g. a month, quarter, or year).

- Determine the average number of employees during the same period. To calculate the average, add the number of employees at the beginning and end of the period, then divide by 2.

- Divide the number of employees who left by the average number of employees, then multiply by 100 to get the percentage.

For example, if your company had 500 employees at the beginning of the year, and 550 at the end of the year, with 50 employees leaving during the year, the attrition rate would be:

Attrition Rate = (50 ÷ ((500 + 550) ÷ 2)) x 100 = 9.09%
