Hi.. under 1 IP and 2 Dispensary scheme, can the family member register in a dispensary that's in next street from the dispensary in which the IP has registered. Or this scheme is applicable only when the family resides in another district or state??

Under the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Scheme in India, the provision for '1 IP 2 Dispensary' allows insured persons (IPs) and their family members to seek medical treatment at any ESI dispensary or hospital of their choice, regardless of where they are registered. Here are the key points to understand:

1. **Flexibility in Dispensary Selection**: The '1 IP 2 Dispensary' scheme allows an insured person (IP) to choose one primary ESI dispensary for their regular medical treatment. However, their family members (dependents) can choose to register and receive treatment at another ESI dispensary, even if it is located nearby or in a different area within the same city or town.

2. **Criteria for Registration**: The scheme is not restricted to cases where the family resides in another district or state. It simply allows flexibility in choosing the dispensary for family members based on convenience or other factors.

3. **Benefit of Accessibility**: The intent of this scheme is to provide flexibility and accessibility to medical services under the ESI scheme. Family members can register at a dispensary that is convenient for them to access, which may include considerations such as proximity to their residence or workplace.

4. **Procedure for Registration**: Family members can typically register at their chosen ESI dispensary by providing the necessary documents, such as proof of relationship to the insured person (IP) and other identification documents as required by the ESI authorities.

5. **Benefits Across Locations**: This scheme is beneficial especially in urban areas where multiple ESI dispensaries may be available within close proximity. It allows family members to access medical care more conveniently without being restricted to the same dispensary as the insured person.

Therefore, family members can indeed register in a dispensary that is in the next street or in a different location from where the insured person (IP) is registered under the '1 IP 2 Dispensary' scheme. This flexibility helps in ensuring that all family members covered under the ESI scheme can access healthcare services conveniently according to their needs.
