Hello Seniors,
Please guide me how to choose my career path, it is a bit lengthy please help me out with your valuable suggestions.
I'm a B.E graduate i started my career as a mentor to final year students of Engg colleges, guiding them how to attend campus interviews since it this job requires lots of travelling to different colleges i quit that job after finishing my contract period of one year.
Then i have joined in a small startup firm as a Jr Dot net Developer and worked for one year due to my mothers health problem to look after her i quit my job it took nearly 8 months for the recovery of my moms health,at that time recession was going on, i was unable to find a job for couple of months so have 2 yrs break in my career, mean while i lost hands on exp on dot net.
After that i got a offer in startup company as HR & Admin ,i handled it very well wherein i was doing complete office management ,vendor management,Handling BPO team, generating reports and Reporting to management,Hr Consultancy.Even though i had too much of work load i had a job satisfaction in this organisation while i was working as s/w developer i used to wait for logout time.Due to heavy losses this company wherein I was working as HR got closed so again i started searching for the job.
since from the college days my dream was working with MNC to get handsome salary with good job profile ,I tried my level best to get into MNC but unfortunately i didn't got a any offer .
Now the Question is which career suits me the best where in I can use my potentials to the best and rewards me handsome salary.
1. Entry level HR-executive in MNC
2. Joining a recruitment firm to learn end to end recruitment process & gain some EXP in HR process and then trying for MNC
3.Brushing up Dotnet concepts again and applying for MNC for entry level positions
4. i got a offer as MIS executive in small firm again ,if i join here what will be career growth, to flourish my career what will be the best option.

Hey Swaroop (i hope this is what your name is)
We all can just help you in making a choice but final decision rest upon you, your skills, abilities, knowledge and interests.
So far, whatever is narrated here, it seems you have no clue of what you want to DO in life, you have been going with the stride.
An Engineer by degree, a trainer/mentor, a dot net professional, AN HR person...you have tried it all...but tell me amongst all these what is that where you have had the satisfaction also the interest is very important for enjoying what you do rather than just getting up in morning and living a life of machine.
So, find out about your strengths, interests and your skills and then make a choice. Today I can help you in selecting any one option but what if you may not like it after few months and you loose your interest...right?? Hence, I would request not to look for short term happiness make a choice that can bring you long term contentment.
Plan you career and not worry about job.
Also, Working in an MNC can happen with any of the profile you select, work on your communication skills, presentation skills, groom yourself and develop your skills in the area of your interest be it engineering, IT or HR.
All the best

Thanks a lot for ur reply Archana
I will work on the areas which you suggested me & I wil try to find out where I’m lagging .
Archana In previous post I have clearly mentioned about my job satisfaction while I was working as HR, but now the problem is due to my previous IT background or due to some other problems which I don’t know are giving me –ve results for the openings of HR, I’m unable to find out the reason.
Coming to My past as you said went on stride due to situations mixed up with personal and financial reasons , I don’t want to take chance to switch my career again but series of rejections are making me think whether I’m in correct path or not to get a job quickly to meet my needs.

Hey swaroop,
Don't loose hope, it happens with many of us when we have to make choices between the career and family...so that is perfectly fine. I also made a choice in my career once and chose my family as there was some personal problem, and I'm happy i made that choice. So don't worry about that at all.
Now coming to your problem again, IT background may be coming in your career now but as your recent experience is in HR i don't think that can be reason.
Apply for jobs where they require some IT related skills and knowledge as well.
Work on your CV, it may require some changes.highlight the HR work experience.
Do not get dejected by the rejections, it may take time, keep applying and you will get success.

Archna

Hi Swaroopa,
Your issue seems genuine and what Ms. Archna is saying is perfectly right.
I would like to add that whatever path we chose is not going to be easy, in any career there are hurdles...I still face that. Shifting from one career to another should be a conscious effort and not in hurry. Ultimately it is your choice - MNC job with handsome salary or start in an area of your interest and make an effort (either MNC or any other place) for where you want to go...
