You have indicated only CL & SL, how about Privilege or Earned Leave. Don't you have this classification? Pl.check that.
In most of the cases availing the 'Loss of Pay' (LoP) would arise only when either during the first year of service as there won't be any credit to the leave a/c as normally crediting to leave a/c is due only after one full year of service or they would have exhausted all types of leave of employees' leave a/c. Some employers allow proportionate leave during the first year in need for any emergency.
Loss of Pay Leave (popularly known as 'Leave Without Pay' -LWP) can be granted in either or all of the following circumstances:
1) Sickness or accident of self or family members and there is no sufficient leave available to the credit of employees.
2) Where there is no leave available in their leave a/c having been fully exhausted
3) To acquire certain qualification/training required in their career or post
4) Conversion of absenteeism or strike days as the case may be, as a special case etc.

Hi,
When employee availed all leaves and when he don't have leave balance we consider as LOP.
You need to refer state rules for crediting correct leaves in employees account. You have mentioned only SL & CL, but you have not mentioned EL/PL which is mandatory.
Feel free to get in touch with us for any assistance/ clarification.

Thanks for you responses- Kumar.s. and Praveen Bhosale.
I need to know if CL and EL are mandatory as we have not come up with ELs for our employees. The problem is, employees want to avail more leaves apart from what we have given. So we need a cap for LoP.
Thanks in advance
