Dear Team members,
Making a come back after a long time.....gone through many companies home pages, surfed through the net.....could not find information (relative) to my doubt on CERTIFICATION relating to HR Practices.
As we all know PCMM assessment is done for HR / People Practices in IT /ITES companies. Similarly do we have EXCLUSIVE certifications in respect of SERVICES INDUSTRY.
While ISO & TQM have a module for HR......would like to understanding if there is any EXCLUSIVE Certification relating to HR Practices that is specific for SERVICES INDUSTRY......focus on FINANCIAL SERVICES.
Thanks,
Shankar Anappindi

Various Certifications that are available in India and most of the companies go for them are:

1. ISO 9000: International Stands Organization (ISO) 9000 series.

2. COPC 2000: stands for Customer Operations Performance Centre.

3. eSCM: (e Services Capability Model) World's first capacity model to cater the unique requirements of ITES / BPO services.

4. BS7799 / BS 7799 Security Standard: BS7799 is the most widely recognized security standard in the world.

5. PCMM®: stands for People Capability Maturity Model. This provides guidance for organizations in crucial areas such as attracting, developing, motivating, deploying and training the talent needed to steadily improve the organization's software development capability.

6. Support Center Practices (SCP) Certification: program was designed to address issues that affect the rapidly growing technology support industry.

7. Six Sigma: Six Sigma is a methodology that provides business with the tools to improve the capability of their business processes. This increase in performance and decrease in process variation leads to defect reduction and vast improvement in profits, employee morale and quality of product.

Most of these certificates relates to Operations, Processes and Procedures.

Except CMM, none of these actually discriminate industries. Like ISO series is not limited to Manufacturing Industry. If you are talking particularly about HR Certification, then to my knowledge, there is only one and that is PCMM. PCMM also don’t discriminate among industries.

Just for your information, here is a link to give you information related to various companies listed with NASSCOM and certificates that they hold <link no longer exists - removed>

I hope this will help.

Sanjeev is right - P-CMM is not applicable to just IT industry, but is used by many industries.
Our first version was written for any competency-based work, but used only software examples. In version 2, released in 2001, we made all our examples from many different competencies, not just software.
For example, Club Mahindra in Goa is not a software company, but has used P-CMM, and their appraisal results were publicized in Economic Times.
I am working on a mapping between P-CMM and the eSourcing Capability Model for Service Providers (eSCM-SP), which is a model specifically designed for the IT and ITES services industries.

Thank you very much Mr. Bill Hefley for your expert advise and the direction provided.
As shared in the query, I am a member of Team HR of a premier integrated financial services company in India, based in Hyderabad. We have a network of 575 offices and team strength of 7000 spread across.
While we understand that 'knowledge never flows free', would be glad if you can advise us on how do we begin with the process of PCMM. This is a long term vision and if were achieved, we stand out to be the only financial services (india based) company to achieve this.
Further, will be also thank ful if you can direct us to the link (if you have in store) to the economic times news print (on media or off media) so that we can go through the same and gain some inputs on our way forward.

Along with PCMM , companies can think of going in for "Acquisition" Model provided by SEI.It is for those companies who outsource a lot of their work. They depend on Vendors to fulfill their "GOALS".
We at Cunix Group can provide Consultancy and Trainings
