Meha, are you talking about from the contractor’s perspective – What are my growth prospects now that I have taken on a contract position?
Or are you asking from the employer’s perspective – What are my obligations as an employer to grow my contractors?

Hi Vicki
Thanks for the reply.
I am talking from employees perspective if he/she joins an organisation on contract bases & not on the payrolls of the company.
1)would it effect his/her growth prospects in future?
2)After working on contact bases for a year, would he/she face any problems in getting another job with good profile in HR.
waiting for reply

Hi
I cant think about anyway this hinders with the employees growth prospect; because irrespective of whether you are on the rolls of an organisation or on contract, the job profile would be the same and will provide you with the same kind of learning experience.
so forget about the status and start learning and absorbing as much as you can
Best of Luck !!!

Hi Meha,
Gone are the days when employers used to not consider candidates while shortlisting, who have been working on contract basis and applying for new jobs.
Today, getting an employment and developing your skills in your assignments carries your differently for the next level of assignment / job.
Many big companies today (including MNCs) majorly hire junior staff (up to executive level) on contract basis and there have been cases where these employees have come far ahead and are today at Managerial position in their current organisations.
Its a orthodox belief that working under contract basis will not land you anywhere in future. If you develop your skills and learn the function you are currently working in with all your interest, I don't think this factor should then hinder you for taking up next job.
Hope this clears your misconception / doubt in detail.
