Dear All,
May I know the difference between Vission and Mission?
Also which comes first? I think Vission. But some companies state Mission first and then Vission or they put the 'contents' of it interchangeably.
Please throw some light on this.
Thanks

Vision is an infinity. "Creating a better quality of life" is a vision. "Education for all" is a vision.
Mission is a goal. Misison is "to become a market leader in 2007" , "Providing education to all the rural masses in Eastern part of India", .Mission helps us to reach the vision. To reach that mission, the short term goals or objectives can be laiddown.
Vision is first, when its iterated (reduced) to Mission.
thanks

Vision is where u want to reach. (to be the market leader....)
Mission is how u want to reach there. (by providing excellent service... satisfying the customers.... development of employees....)
You may set ur vision first and reach it through ur mission.
Vision is usually a long term goal n
mission is reaching to it through sort term goals.
EX: A co. mission is to capture 60% market share by 2012 and
its mission is to increase it sales by 25% by the end of the year.

Hi,
Vision should be there initially.. Without vision no mission.. Only when u have a vision(What to do? Where to reach?) then only u can build a strategic mission(how to do?) to reach what u want to do or where u want to reach.. As said by one of our citehr friend.. Vision is having an aim and mission is the step taken to reach the target or achieve the aim..
So Vision will be first.. If i'm anything wrong.. HR Folks plz correct me.. Always welcome with ur suggestions..
Cheers,
Swati :)
