I completely agree with my friend Mr. Lingham's choice--he has offered a good recommendation, and I would but add one other book which might be of benefit to you. We share several of the examples, ideas, concepts and even some of the conceptual format from this book in several of our Seminars on Diversity....
Managing the Organizational Melting Pot: Dilemmas of Workplace Diversity: Prasad, Pushkala with Albert J. Mills, Michael Elmes, and Anshuman Prasad; Sage Publications; Thousand Oaks, CA. 1997. ISBN 0-8039-7410-8.
This could be a very helpful read for you, as it contains not only the theory, but also a variety of case studies of actual problems--with the resultant actions taken, both good and bad.
It's more of an "I can't believe we made those decisions in that way" book--with real life examples.
As anyone with significant experience will tell you, many times there are no good or bad decisions which can be taken in HR situations--only shades of gray in your decision making. As HR is a human-focused discipline, and life itself so often represents compromise, HR also is reflective of that element of compromise.
