Hi, I am looking for a short note on how companies conduct their Management trainee hiring and how can we measure their success and look at developing a career plan for them until their confirmation.

Dear Harneet,

The Management Training Programme (MTP) is conducted for the freshly passed engineering or management students. The general process could be as below:

a) Campus selection of the students for the MTP
b) Commencement of the MTP once the students complete their final semester
c) The selected Management Trainees (MTs) are made to work in one of the departments for three months. In the end, the training department conducts the test to assess the knowledge that they have acquired.
d) Later, the MTs are rotated i.e., their departments changed. Again, the test will be conducted at the end of the three-month period. However, the training department has to design a new test paper. Else, there is a possibility of MTs passing on the questions to one another.
e) The process mentioned in (d) above is repeated 3-4 times. Therefore, the total length of the MTP could last for 1.5-2 years.
f) At the end of the MTP, the suitability of the MT is assessed for the placement in the particular department.

I hope the above information is sufficient.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
