Dear Sudien,
the approach for certfication
You have to contact any one of the certfifyting body (BVQI, RWTUV, DNV, etc) as a third party. They may assist in developing the system or suggest some one who are associated with them to guide you to develope the same.
For your organization, you will have to nominate a person as MR (management representative) to develop and implement the system. He can be assisted with few more to form a team. Initially, there will be a lot of documentation (deaft - discuss - change - finalize) to be made. You do not have to appoint a new person. generally it will be an additional responsibility given to an individual.
Everyone in the organization should be covered for an awareness training on the quality management system. the key persons to be given a full training either as lead auditors (5 days course) or as internal auditors (3days course), so that they understand the total requirement of the system.
The team, then decides on the levels of documentation. in general, it consists of apex or core system manual, procedures, work instructions, and forms & formats. There are mandatory procedures as per the satndard requirements, which you should have. other procedure depends on the organizational control they wish to have.
Once these documents are in place, they have to be implemented and the internal auditors have to carry out the audits for conformance. all non conformances to be corrected and prevented against reoccurance. The MR will conduct management review meetings to appraise the status and decisions on resources, objectives, targets, action plan are to be recorded.
once you are comfortable with the system, you can call the third party agancies to come for audit and certify.
remember, you have to complete atleast one full cycle of audit before calling the third party for certification . i.e - one internal audit - MR meeting - followup audit on corrective and preventive actions on non conformance.
hope this information will give you a fair idea on the certification process.
any more specific details you need, pl. mail me -

hello,
I am verry much interested to be a lead auditor, and have an intension to audit my dads company which is a construction and a restoration company. I have gone thru whith most of the sites and sopken to one of the lead auditor of my privious company, where in i got the sugession that if i got to audit my dads company i could be done after 2 yrs where in there would be 2 financial analysis cycle and as i got in to my dads company just a few days back, i have to get to know the company better and the organisational structure and the fiber of the organisation.
i have done my graduation (Bsc) and have an experience of 3yrs in an Ites company as a sales specialist (Dell computers India pvt ltd, and not engineering, and have an intension to do Mba in constructional managment from NICMAR, from June - 2008, hence i was planning to atleast complete half way thru my Mba and in the mean time study the basics and awareness and the principles of QMS from ISO 9001-2000 written by Jay schlicman, as the mba if a correspondence ones i would be workin as well , so there in i would be having the awareness of the organisational structure and a theoritical knowledge of implementation of various managment principles and resructure the organisation according to the ISO standards.
i have a plan to first be an internal auditor and then take a course of a lead auditor, i am confused in this part, how does it work, hou do i go thru? i have been said that to be a lead auditor first you got be an internal auditor then a provisional auditor thena senior auditor and finaly a lead auditor and it would be certified as the person being a lead auditor from and certifiying body IRCA or NRBPT, its a 2 Hr test and the qualifiying persentage is 90% and that the licence should be reneved every 3 yrs once as per the regulatory and stutory standardisation chances apply, so the query in here is that, i am confused of hou does the lead auditor course go, hou do i take it and when? should i take the iso awareness programe and then the internal auditor and then the lead auditor course or hou do i do it?
i request you to please suggest me apprpriately.
