Well dude there is nothing difficult in it introducing your self

you see when a new friend meets you; what you will do you explain every thing like starts with your name, place, study and job

so professionally in interviews we add details of education and J0B discription, with hobbies

Just you have to know what is the company upto before going and your role you are appling for so makes your way easy answer for a tough question.

Prepare for additional Questions like what was ur role in previous org...

2) Reason to leave the previous org....

3) what are the tools or applications used

regarding your family back ground it is a waste information you are giving
Personal information is your inform not your family what are you thinking?
what you want to become? how u would work to achive?

so in this round you are the teller and the One is a listener sop speak as much you can and avoid things which you should not tell (like loopholes of the previous Org.....) tell positive every time if he ask for that creates a good impression on you...

more over tell every thing from present to past
ex: tell PG to 10th class not from 10th to PG

Dear Paddu,
There is a saying in English," Tell me who your friends are, i will tell you who you are", similarly, "A tree is known by its fruit", and vice-versa. And the three most important factors of socialization are-the family, school and Peer group. Hence it is imperative that you talk about your family. If there is nothing worthwhile talking, then keep shut. Its all situational. For example, both my parents have been IAS officers and mentioning about them has always given me a cutting edge over the others. Of course taking it for granted that you are smart too!!
Don't get carried away by the DOCOMO advertisement, wherein the guy gets a job inspite of knowing nothing. It doesn't happen in real life!!
Cheers!

“Tell me about yourself……” is a very common question asked by the interviewer. You may think that why is he asking this question inspite of the resume being open in front of him. The trick lies here. He who wants to crack the question will be coming up with something that is not mentioned in his resume. The most important objective lies on judging about your personality. It will have an effect on your work and work environment, after all.
The interviewer may ask this question for the reasons listed below:
• Make you feel easy
• Judge your personality
• Explore your interests, likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc.
• Get idea about your values, family background and culture.
• Mentality, which will put an impression on your job role.
• Know your ambition, your career aspirations, how big you dream, how determined you are about your goals
Though it may seem easier, yet it is tough to explore your own mind. The main stress is on organizing your answer. You may say every detail about yourself but, if unprepared, you may present it haphazardly, which will leave the interviewer with nothing but confusion. You have to create your impression through this answer. It’s your first meeting with your interviewer, so your answer should make him remember you. You have to utilize the opportunity of stating about your personality and introducing that ‘yourself’ with the interviewer who can prove to be beneficial to his company. Your answer should contain:
• Brief introduction about you , your family and your residential place
• Your educational/professional background and your most important achievement.
• Your interests, your hobbies (mention those aligning to the job position)
• Your career goals

Hi All,
I appreciate comments of all the fellow HRs on this site. here is what i feel.
Most of the times the candidate is stranger for the interviewer.
Just think if you meet a stranger professional and you get involved in a casual talk what would you like to know about him. U just get prepared for those questions.
No need of telling all high funda things about yourself. because recruiters are bored of listening to similar exaggerated answers.
This question might have been asked to make the candidate feel comfortable but some surveys say that interviewer makes his decision in first 10 minutes of discussion. its always an effect of first impression.
and one more thing in interview process most of times similar questions are asked but answers should differ from individual to individual.
I would appreciate your views.
Thanks,
Santosh

You need to tell interviewers briefly your names and value proposition to the company. When I was still looking for Jobs, I would use the following lines and they always made good impression on the panel members:

"I am Mustapha Mugisa. I am one of those rare people who can say is a human resource professional, team player and business development consultant and mean it. I hold a Master of Business Administration majoring in Human Resource, and have worked for xx company for three years, where I initiated a human resource deployment matrix and improved performance. I believe in team work and employee empowerment. My qualifications and experience are suited for this job."

Note that employers are interested in assessing your ability to do the job, other than your University, Primary or secondary school! or even about your parents unless you've some relationship with Gandhi M or along those lines. Focus on summarizing your CV in 3-four sentences that show your suitability for the job, and stop. Let the panel ask about your parents name or your former schools or any other personal issues. The rule of thumb is anything written in your cv is not of interest to the panelist. Be original and focus on showing how you are mature, how you have experience and skill to do the job better than any one else, how you've done it in the past e.g. my statement "I have worked for xx company for 3 yrs where I initiated a HR deployt matrix' If this is this company's problem [and you need to research to know what is their present problem/s so that you hit on the head], you will get the job. 1- we have to think "why the question asked to candidate" while most of things already mentioned in resume.
2 - you should tell only what the interviewer want to listen from you.
3- The first question entered you to next question else ..............
4- before answer any thing you must know requried candidate profile/nature of job/job responsibilty/company profile/salary range/location vacant and weather you fit for representation of the company & the position.
if you know deeply you will talk confidentely. Interview is nothing but to sell your qualities tactfully.
you might have hered name of famous singer "MUKESH" and his song
"JO TUMKO HAI PASAND WAHI BAT KARUNGA, TUM DIN KO AGAR RAT KAHO TO RAT KAHUNGA"
told only "what the interview want to listen and search from you"
