Hi,

We are a group of four people, all working for MNCs in India. We are interested in starting something to help students with their projects. Could you please advise us on how to begin so that we can generate profits while also benefiting the students?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Hi,

If you want to gain the concentration of students, you can put up small ads and signboards in front of the college with your contact number or even a help desk outside the compound. You can conduct free seminars on weekends to explain in what way you can help with their projects and your fee structure. Collect the contact numbers that land in your mobile and do a private one-to-one follow-up until it materializes. All the best!

Hi dear,

First of all, I would like to know what you guys are working as.

1. Make a list of skills you have that you want to pass on. For example, if you are a computer engineer, mention the programming languages you are proficient in.
2. Create a master plan with a step-by-step diagrammatic view to show how you will help students with their projects. Remember, it's not just about what you are providing but also about how you will do it.
3. Develop a small presentation that can be used in seminars to attract students.
4. Ensure your presentation highlights your skills and how you will assist students in getting trained in these skills.
5. In today's digital age, websites are crucial for marketing. Therefore, create a website where you can detail the services you offer, fee structures, contact information, and even include an inquiry form. This will attract students from all over the country, breaking geographical boundaries.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at akshupuri@gmail.com.

I will do my best to assist you in any way I can.

Regards,
Akshu

Hi, for starters, do assignments locally. As word of mouth about your performance spreads, you will receive more referrals and can eventually venture out on your own. Try to enhance multidisciplinary skills for all four of you - divide responsibilities and ensure synergies match. This should not take long for you. Above all, back yourselves, support each other, and spend time at the end of each day as you begin to grow (I am assuming you will grow) and don't let anyone outside the four of you interfere. In case of any problems, resolve them among yourselves and refrain from involving third parties.

All the best for your endeavor.

Hi,

You can inform through your website that "all the students who are interested need to register themselves first through this website" and you can charge something as a registration fee.

Alternatively, you guys can visit some of the colleges and meet the in-charge of their placement cells...

We have launched a new concept of certifying professional fitness through providing employability training. Please visit the site Profit Certification / Global Certification for details on the concept.

We are in the process of appointing dealers in regions which, in turn, will be responsible for appointing franchises. Excellent returns with a small investment.

If interested, please contact me via email at p_munshi@yahoo.com

Hey, I probably think your idea will be a blast. Students would be eager to join you guys. When it comes to advertising, it is a must to disclose something about the topics you can engage the students in and also make yourselves easily available to students for queries.

But please ensure that you do not do anything unethical (like spoon-feeding students with prepared assignments, etc), like some commercial organizations are already doing.

I am helping students in a very small way through CiteHR. Please see my posts.

Have a nice day.

Hello Everyone,

Akshu has really given a quite descriptive idea about how you can go about the whole plan. I would like to add a few more things which will help you to get a start as early as possible.

I am working in an IT company, and we are providing a training program to the students, which is more or less similar to providing them exposure to live projects. It helps them to understand the industry environment and gives them a project for their internship. It is a commercial activity as well as a beneficial plan for the students.

The points mentioned by Akshu will help you a lot once you have taken off, but to start with, there needs to be ground-level work done. Colleges do not entertain commercial activities on the campus very easily. Proper promotional activity will be important to approach the colleges.

I would suggest that if you are starting with the business, make a launch of the program at the time when colleges are going with their internships. You can use the following points for promoting your program in colleges:

1) Try to convince the college TPOs to interact with you and the students.
2) To convince them, you need to explain the benefits that a student will get while training at your place.
3) Highlight the benefits not only to students but also to the college and TPOs if they convince students to join your program (monetary and non-monetary).

Apart from approaching colleges, you can use leaflet distribution or bulk SMS facilities to attract inquiries and promote the program.

Hope I have added some value. I can assist you further on the same if you have any queries. You can reach me anytime at nehakhale@gmail.com.

Neha Khale

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. We are into SAP. Do you think going to MBA colleges, giving seminars, and then having them join us is a good strategy? Is SAP valuable at the MBA college level? How should we approach this, and how much investment is needed?

Hi,

Being an optimist, I wish you'll become successful entrepreneurs.

My view on what I think about it:

- Firstly - If I were the student and you would make the project for me, wouldn't that deprive me of the knowledge I gain from doing a project?
- Secondly - What would be your total contribution in the completion of my project?
- Thirdly - What would be your pricing strategy to a student?

Suggestion: You could be the providers of 'Relevant Data' that the students require for completing their project. But then you need to have strong, accurate, and prompt information systems in place. This saves the students from the time they would have spent getting drowned in the vast information online.

Regarding 'earning from websites' - Once you have a running website for your firm, you can think of options like 'AdSense' from Google.

Hi,

We want to help by providing projects for corporates (by assisting them to fulfill their job requirements) while also benefiting students by offering valuable work experience at the college level itself. I have observed that many students engage in projects by merely collecting materials, printing, and submitting without truly engaging in the work.

During this recession period when companies are unable to hire full-time employees, we can offer part-time projects for students. Hopefully, we will also generate some profit from this endeavor.

Other suggestions are welcome.

Hi,

Being an optimist, I wish you will become successful entrepreneurs. Here are my thoughts on the matter:

- Firstly, if I were a student and you were to complete the project for me, wouldn't that deprive me of the knowledge and experience gained from doing the project myself?
- Secondly, what level of contribution would you provide towards the completion of my project?
- Thirdly, what pricing strategy would you implement for students?

Suggestion: You could provide students with relevant data necessary for project completion. However, this would require a robust, accurate, and efficient information system to save students time spent searching for information online.

Regarding earning from websites, once you have a functioning website for your firm, you could explore options like Google AdSense.

Dear Pawan,

Before asking for advice about any business, you could have stated your qualifications and experience, if any. Please provide this information now, as advice based on assumptions may not benefit you.

Hi, you asked about the student projects centre. You have to prepare a proposal for the project centre and make tie-ups with institutions. Try to meet the heads of departments from all departments and make them feel happy. Prepare the projects as research-based papers for the students.

Marketing is the key to success. Because I am also running a small project centre in Chennai, and I have made tie-ups with some educational institutions. Now, it's going fine. So far, I have registered 120 batches for projects.

Hi,

First of all, thanks for the appreciation. As you previously mentioned that you are into SAP, you need to approach the companies which are into SAP. Most of those companies either hire freshers and train them or take experienced people, but part-time or project-based SAP work is a bit challenging.

In terms of approaching MBAs for SAP training, it would be a good idea. However, targeting people who are already in IT will likely generate more interest.

People in IT often pursue Masters in computers, which may not necessarily benefit their work profile. Therefore, targeting individuals with backgrounds like BE, ME, MTech, BTech, and MCA could provide significant value addition.

On the other hand, companies may expect students to work for free if they are engaged on a part-time basis. Instead, consider developing your own product using these students with 1-2 experts involved. This can reduce costs as manpower is not paid, while you earn from teaching. I believe this could be a useful approach for you.

Hi,

We want to help by providing projects for corporations (by collaborating with them to fulfill their needs), and at the same time, students will benefit by gaining practical work experience at the college level itself.

I have observed that many students work on projects but do not put in genuine effort; they often just compile materials, print them, and submit without real engagement.

During this recession, companies may struggle to hire full-time employees. In such cases, we can offer part-time opportunities (projects for students).

And I hope we will also generate some profit from this venture?

Others, please suggest.

Hi, hronley!

I just want to say that it's not only the website which can help you out, but some other methods too to gain profits and serve students. You can go for campus visits at some larger but regular intervals of time. Once students and faculty place their trust in your passion, then success will not be far away, my friend. You will be highly paid, I am sure, as I am an MBA student myself and know very well about these seminar-like events.
