Dear All,
The real issue of ehics of the HR profession has been put to focus in this matter. Was it not the duty of HR man to have communicated the decision iwithout creating any bitterness. The decision of the Top Management is there to sack them, but as HR man 'Are we doing a professional duty in communicating it so bluntly?' There are organisations who have gone beyond the normal routines and made such partings an experience worth remembering. In today's situation terminations are understandable but what makes the difference is the way in which it is handled. Is it to be done in a mechanical manner as if they are mere two hands hired for the organisation or do we take care of the sensibilities. People remember organisations which have risen above the limited view of organisational roles and responsibilities and have made such places great places to work.
It is worth remembering the maxim " We need not oblige always, but we can talk obligingly !!!!.
Regards KK Nair

Hi everybody,
I have gone through all the opinions aired for the benefit of our friend. I absolutely endorse with you all. However, I hv few observations:
1. With recession, two categeries of people got effected; the first being the freshers and the second, the senior employees.
2. It has been observed that every fresher & senior is making a hue & cry for the present recessional turbulence.
3. While it is genuine to accept the vows of a fresher as unfortunate and untimely, as they would have had lots of employment opportunities and for the present their future is in dark.
But, I fail to u/s as to why the seniors who could have prepared/saved for a rainy day are frustrated. I guess the reason could be all that was to save for tomorrow has been lavishly spent yesterday without realising the repurcussions that may arise in a future date. May I ask you my dear friends, who should be held responsible for this sudden development in their lives. Is the organisation in anyway responsible for it. It paid well as long as it could. It was the prerogative of those senior people to save or not to save. In most of the cases, people who went abroad also claim that they saved nothing and running in liabilities.
When a person can afford a first hand car at a reasonably young age when he/she owns a dream house at a zero% housing loan, heavily banking on credit cards, would you expect that the financial crunch, the nation suffers shall leave these guys untouched.
If I remember correctly, I know some very senior Doctors and Engineers who left/migrated to US and other foreign countries much before the ITians have stepped in these countries, preferred to buy second hand car till they achieve a reasonable level of financial stability.
Can we not realise now, where the mistake has taken place. Then what is so surprising about the present state of affairs.
4. Coming to freshers,IT certainly had provided opportunities to everyone; But, pl let me now, Is it only IT or economy based organistions which have resulted in umemployment. Are there no parallel employment avenues for the guys. A civil, mechanical, electrical, Management, finance and everybody preferred jobs in software for the fact that they believe only IT can pay big and none can challenge it. My dear friends, it is not so, a core engineering guy must always explore possibilities in his/her own field not getting too much attracted for that field which his/her neighbour gets attracted.
5. Anyway, my observations may not be truly relevant to the question in ref. but I thought I should share these few words with you all.
6. I wish this turbulence in economy be a temporary one, and all freshers would certainly have a bright career very soon. Unemployment is not a curse, we all must fight against this evil, by exploring alternative ways to earn our bread & butter. For that one must strive for achieving excellence in his core field of specialisation.
I wish everyone a great success.
