I do not know the period of your services in government of India, however irrespective of your length of services considering your qualifications you must be holding a good post and your total emoluments must not be less then Rs 40000/- p.m. if your services are between 5 to 7 years. It is your secure service. In private company you may get high salary but there is no security.
How do you feel that you are not utilizing your knowledge and skill to the maximum? If you utilize your knowledge and skill in the present services you are likely to be promoted to a very high post before your retirement and by that time you will be getting not less then Rs. 200000/- p.m. and after retirement you get pension almost equivalent to 40% of your last drawn salary.
There are people who have switched over to private company but failed to get what they wanted.
In case you have your own family business or factory then you take such risk to changeover.

I think u have a very good knowledge about ur subject and based on that u need to come up with new projects which can be helpful patented and sell to big companies. Like this u can earn some company fast, if things work out u can start ur own company and provide opportunities for youngsters to work in ur company.

Opportunities are never given. Opportunities need to be created. You need to think what new you can do? Once you have this attitude towards work, things are going to be different. As regards pay I do not agree that Govt. of India now pays less. Govt. of India by awarding sixth pay commission to its employees has crossed all limits in recession era being faced by the economy. All companies are cutting salaries of employees but for obvious reasons Govt. awarded sixth pay commission its employees. It is true Govt. that expects its employees should do what they are asked to do but you as an engineer should have an attitude to look for new ideas and suggest to superiors with reasons/justification for their implementation. With good attitude all jobs are good.

And such attitude will take us to reach to good levels, and we must perform and be happy with all levels of ladder to reach. More than all we need to learn a lot all these times too. If we proven to be a good seed then management themselves plant us we grow in a shape of tree to give a shadow to n numbers...
So please try to put first thing first and be satisfy with all what we have today.. Few are not having any thing we are better then them.
