ESI is contributed from both the sides Employee as well as Employer.
It is been calculated on the basis of Gross salary per month is 10000 Rs./Month less than only then ESIC is applicable.
The contribution from both the sides is as below-
Employee Side- 1.75% of gross/month
So if gross of an employee is 10000/month then
ESI contribution would be 10000*1.75% = ### Rupees per employee
Employer side- 4.75% of gross/month
ESI contribution would be 10000* 4.75% = ### Rupees per employee
Where as PF is contributed @12% of basic salary only from both sides employee as well as employer..
Employer PF break-up is 3.67--Provident Fund and 8.33 will be for pension fund as on date 8-Jan-2009.

Dear All,
Can you please tell me whether the Overtime Allowance is to be included while calculating the ESI?
For example, an employee is getting Rs.8000/- as Gross Salary and his Overtime Allowance is Rs.1000/-.
In this case, whether we have to include the Overtime Allowance also to calculate the ESI for both Employee & Employer's contribution.
Please clarify and if you have any proof for this, please it send to my e-mail ID which is mentioned below.
