We are in need of a general check-up as we are a new company with just 10 months of operation, and we require fitness certificates for our staff.
Please clarify whether we should contact a doctor or a lab conducting tests, as the validity of the certificate is very important to us.

Dear Nisha,
As per the Factories Act, medical examinations shall be conducted and endorsed by an Authorized MBBS doctor only for all permanent and temporary employees who are working for your organization. Labs are used only for the medical tests prescribed by the doctor. Any abnormalities found should be documented along with the actions taken, as suggested by the doctor.

Recently, the Factory Inspector visited our construction site as a BOCW Inspector and requested the Vision Test reports for all Crane Operators. When I presented the reports, which were duly signed by a General Physician, he insisted that the vision tests must be conducted by an Ophthalmologist and not a general physician.
Therefore, it is advisable for our members to develop a practice of sending the Drivers and Operators to an Eye Hospital for these tests during their employment.
