Hi Dear
I agree the comments of Mr.JS Malik
PF/ESI contributions (employee & employer) on the days paid for only.
Even if an employee is on loss of pay for whole month no contributions (employee & employer) as there are no earnings for that particular month.
But however at the time of sending PF Annual Return (Form-3A) you have to mention breaks in reckonable service and this information is required by PF authorities while calculating Family Pension etc.,
hope the above is clear
Tks & Regards

Dear all,
Every earning is deductable either pf or esi. It does not cosiderable wheather he is on any leave.
one unic formula - Every earning(Salary) means deductable either esi or pf.
for your reference go thru esi and pf deductable amount.
Thanks,

Dear All,
I'm a new guy entered citeHR and read the above discussed. Here I had a question on this regard i.e, if any employee has earned leave about 5-6days approx and he took all his earned leaves due to some reasons. Have we need to deduct & pay PF, ESI for the days he worked or full month. Kindly advice.

Dear friend,
You have to deduct the pf/esi against salary for the days for which you are paying salary. Physical absent is criteria. Say,you are paying for 15 days, you have to contribute for these days only. If you are paying salary for absent days too, you have to contribute ESI/PF for that days too.
