Hi Anil,
Regarding transfer of PPF, as you are residing in Kanpur.
PPF is treated as Govt Account instead of Bank or Branch Account.
So, now the PPF A/c in Allahabad Bank A/c can be transferred to any Bank Account which is having PPF Accounts.
Just check with the banks in your area, whether they have PPF Accounts. Almost all SBIs and its subsidiaries have these account.
You have to give a request letter to the nearest Bank for transferring the PPF account to that Branch, which in turn will forward the letter to Allahabad Bank . The account will be closed at Allahabad Bank, and proceeds will be sent to the requested bank. They will open a PPF account, with new no. and carry forward of old balance and interest.
Now you can continue to invest in PPF account.
Regards
Sandhya
