In our organisation,several forms such as Joining form, Personal Data Form,Attestation Form,Marriage Declaration Form etc. are filled up once the individual turns up for joining after getting the offer of Appointment.Certificates issued by competent authorities are then checked.If required, some of the certificates may be sent to the Issuing Authorities for confirmation.
Sometimes,while the person has already joined,on specific complaints from other sources,reference is made to Vigilance and /or Police for verification of antecedents.If the declaration made by the employee,or certificates are found false,or fake,after conducting due process of Domestic Enquiry,the person may be awarded major punishment including dismissal from service.
In any case the onus lies on the employee to prove that the declarations made by him are true.Thank You.

This is not a fundamental right. University or any institution can not reveal the information of an individual until or unless you have authority for this. Authorization from the candidate himself is a must to carry out such verifications. Even verification agencies always demand for an authorization letter from the candidate.

As Controller of Examinations at the largest private sector university in Pakistan, one of the responsibilities I have is to verify the authencity of degrees/diplomas and other documents issued by us and those of other instiutions from time to time. At our University we've developed as MIS in the examination cell, that once we recieve a document for authentication/verification the system includes an in-built system to verify the document being verified with the back-up of the water-mark and the physical attributes of the document itself. The docuemnt is then authenticated by the university seal and signed by me, for onward transmission. Neither is the process tedious or costly and I can claim it to be 99.999% accurate.
