Dear Neerja,
Almost 90% of the HR professionals start their career with some or the other recruitment agency only. If you are a smart recruiter start building beneficial network, deal with people very professionally and in a neat n crisp manner, show them your expertise whenever you get the opportunity, side by side do visit HR portals/ read HR magazines, remain abreast with current affairs in HR and otherwise. If you show the world that you are a true gem, HR managers will run after hiring you.
These are not just words. It happened with most of us when we started our career with a one room consultancy. Today most of us are at respectable levels of our careers. Thanks to recruiting, thanks to networking !!

Hi ..
this is regarding to your question that consultancy experience is not cont in any company whether you are at a higher package . if you are getting any opportunity in any small company also you can switch your profile from recruitment to generalist profile if you want to grow your carrier in generalist profile with good companies whether you will get a less package but in future you will get better openings ....

Hi,
I have done the same thing, switch over from consultancy to a small company as a HR. After joining i am feeling like here is more admin profile instead of other function of HR.
For example: if there is any recruitment so i am involved in shortlisting and calling them for interview and their interview is conducted by there reporting person only. ultimately what would i learn???? Rest of the function like performance appraisal and compensation is done by top management only.
What should i do ....please reply.

Hi Neeraj,
Human Resource Management is vast term and recruitment is just part of it.
As per your quotation is concerned you are working with a consultancy in the filed of recruitment,so your exp will be count in Recruitment only provided that its on direct recruitment basis and not on hardcore calling and meeting up with the monthly targets.
Recruitment field is blooming one and now a days many MNC co.they also have Profile for Recruitment only.
The job responsibility of HR Generalist is more than that of recruitment it involves as possible as every part of HR and for this One had to bit experience in the same field.
Further in Consultancy also there are different segments like Staffing, Recruitment and Payroll management(Outsourcing) so you can apply in any of the options as per your interest area and carer plans, hopefully it will good for your aspiring HR generalist profile.
All The Best !!
