Thank you for you kind words. At the end of the day, I am a modest person and tend to shy away from such effusive praise. I like to think that I did my job to the best of my ability, helped and encouraged people along the way, and made small changes that yielded big gains for everyone. In saying that, I am proud of the things I have achieved, especially in the fields of training and development and also staff recruitment and selection which were my particular areas of specialisation. Over my working life I have had a wide range of jobs, including running my own business. I credit that life experience, along with a willingness to learn new skills, to my success.

Saswata,

Thank you. I too have enjoyed our interactions, and in particular your wise counsel and advice when I commented on topics outside of my main areas of expertise.

Not sure about new ventures. My main interest in life is genealogy (family history) research, and in recent years have become far more involved in that, not only with my own research, but helping others with their research using the skills I have developed over the last almost 40 years. So there is an element of my old career of training there! I was also recently honoured to be appointed as a Conference Ambassador for a big family history conference being held in Australia next March.

You mentioned writing a book! Everyone dreams about that I think. Over the last 17 years I have commented a lot on CiteHR about Recruitment and Selection, and in particular how people (especially in India) overthink and over complicate the process. On many occasions I posted "AussieJohn's Six Easy Steps to Recruitment and Selection. It has occurred to me at various times that this could be expanded into a book, so that is a possibility.
