Dear Prathima,
You may claim medical reimbursement and LTA amounts without giving proper bills or actually undertaking travel. However, then both the reimbursements will be taxable.
If claimed by giving proper bills and actually going for a trip within India, both the reimbursements will be exempt from tax.

Hi,
For a female there is no tax deductions upto 1.35L. If including LTA when their CTC comes below than the above mentioned limit. Is it possible to claim the whole of LTA with out actually taking a journey? Is there any tax deductions also for that??
kindly clarify..

HI,
I have a query regarding LTA. I made a trip to South India by one Private Agency. It was a Package Tour consisting of 5 different Place. I was accompanied by My Father, Mother and sister. Since it was a Package tour of 8 Days and traveled different Places and the single Tour Company took us to All places, so can I claim LTA with those Tickets?
Thanks in Advance

Dear All,
As per my understanding 2 LTA cant be claimed in a single year. But i have a doubt regarding the same. Say an employee claims 1 LTA for a block of 2006-2009. Now 1 LTA will be carried forward to the next block i.e 2010-2013 and the employee would have to take the carried forward LTA in 2010 as per LTA regulations. Now say if the employee claims LTA of block 2010-2013 in 2010 itself...he would have 2 LTA in 2010....So is it allowed????
kindly reply at the earliest as I need to add the same in our revised policy for coming financial year

LTA can be claimed for 2 years in a block years of 4 for IT exemption. Yo have to avail min 6 days of EL or PL as the case may be. The ceiling is restricted upto 2 times of your basic per year of travel. The mode can be the shortest route in Air, Rail or tour operators.

While going through the posts on LTA, I came across that LTA can be claimed for the Current Block Jan 2006 to31 December 2009. In my case I will be leaving on 25th December'09 by Air to Jammu and returning back from Srinagar by Air on Jan 1, 2010. I have the following queries with regards to my LTA claim:
1. Will I be able to claim the return Air fare since the same would fall in Jan 2010? Would that be construed as next block for the purpose of claiming LTA in my Income tax return?
2. If above reply is no for the return as it is Jan 2010. Then in that case can I claim the return fare for my next years return i.e.FY2010-11.
3. Also since I will be claiming only 1 LTA in the current 2006-2009 block of 4 years can I carry forward one more claim in the next year?
4. If above answer is yes, can I claim 2 LTAs for next year that is the return journey or 1 LTA as c/fwd and the 1 as the eligible one for next year
5. Is it mandatory to claim LTA in alternate years why cant it be claimed twice in any 2 years out of the block of four years
Request point wise replies against the above queries.
