Ph.D program requires full time attendance in an institution. However, for those who are working this is rather difficult. In India, only 3 universities are offering Ph.D program through distance mode. Other universities require compulsory attendance. Many do not admit if the applicant is not a teaching staff. Now, for those who are working and aspire to do a doctoral program, please apply to IGNOU or Netaji Subash Chandrabose University, Kolkatta or Dravidian University, Kuppam, AP. These three universities are recognised by the Distance Education Council and have affiliations of UGC. Of the three, IGNOU intakes are few and entry is difficult. NSCU is erratic and one need to closely follow up with them for opening of admission. Dravidian University is relatively easy and user friendly. It is formed by 3 states, AP, TN and Karnataka. DU has study centres all over India. Log into www.dravidianuniversity.ac.in to know more. DU entry requirement is 50% and above in PG.
