I understand that PF is mandatory for "Foreing Workers" (International Workers) but how about other labor laws viz., I.D.Act, ESI, Gratuity, etc
Is the PF attracts even for trainees who come down to our country training purposes?

All international workers are covered by EPF and for deciding eligibility there is no limit for salary as is for Indian employees there is a limit of Rs 6500 beyond which the employer is not bound to contribute.

ESI has not so far come out with such a notification giving coverage to intyernational workers. However, for ESI any person who does labour and is drawing salary of not more than Rs 10000 are covered. I hope there can not be any international worker who works in India for a salary of less than Rs 10000. Similarly, ESI being an arrangement whereby the family members not residing with the insured (employee) but somewhere or any where in India will get treatment and medical facilities over there can not accomplish such coverage to the family of an international worker who may be in USA, Australia or England!!

Industrial Disputes Act being an Act mainly to look after Industrial relations of a worker will open its scope to an international worker also provided he is a workman within the meaning of the ID Act.

An international worker may be entitled to Gratuity if he completes 5 years of service with an employer.

International trainees are exempted from EPF
