Professional tax should be deducted on the salary payable during month. For e.g. if employee's monthly salary is 20000 and he is present on all 30 days then PT will be 200 rs. and if he is present for 15 days that is if salary payable is Rs. 10000 then PT will be Rs. 150/-.

Dear Aniket,
Neeki which originally asked the question is from Vadodara, Gujarat and the slab which I mentioned is as per Gujarat Professional Tax rules. May be the PT slab which you are referring is for some other state and not for Gujarat.
