Dear Ankita,

There is sufficient discussion on how to create Job Description (JD) on this forum. You could have referred the past threads.

Secondly, JDs need to be customised. These differ from one industry to another and one company to another. Therefore, what you need to do is to sit with each individual and understand how they execute their job. You may ask them what are their daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly activities and list them out. In the above duties, you may list out primary and secondary duties. Generally ratio of primary:secondary is 80:20 or 90:10.

JDs uploaded on job portal may require additional information for each position like:

Age range

Qualification (compulsory and desired)

Whether gender-specific requirement

Whether night duties involved

Whether required to lift weight or required to do any other heavy job

Whether required to have licenses of any type

Whether required to have specific certification courses

Whether required to have knowledge of the geographical area

Whether required to have specific Computer/IT skills

Whether required to have unique knowledge or skills

Whether required to climb on a tower or required to handle jobs at a height

Medical fitness in general and in particular, if any
